Room finish, door, window, and hardware schedules: getting the products right

A schedule is only as good as the product research behind each line. Here is where schedule errors come from and how to research each entry with cited data.

Four schedules, one problem

Room finish schedule

floor, base, wall, and ceiling finishes per room, each with a product and a performance criterion behind it.

Door schedule

door, frame, rating, and hardware set per opening.

Window schedule

unit, glazing, performance values, and rough opening.

Hardware schedule

the sets, and every item in them, matched to the door’s rating and function.

Where errors come from

A finish that doesn’t meet the slip or flame-spread requirement for its room. A door hardware set that doesn’t match the door’s fire rating. A window whose performance values were copied from a superseded data sheet. Each is a research error, made one line at a time.
